Crossing the Fence

Methodist Ladies’ College values the importance of an all-girls’ environment and its proven benefits for young women. However, we understand that meaningful and organised interactions with male students is still necessary for their social development. Therefore, we offer tailored initiatives and opt-in activities to our students.

In the Senior Years

Our Crossing the Fence program, in partnership with Christ Church Grammar School (CCGS), offers Years 11 and 12 girls opportunities which are unique to our College. They can select courses from the CCGS curriculum, allowing them a wider range of subjects and activities to try. We are right next door to CCGS, which means the girls can walk to and from their chosen classes within minutes and vice versa. There is no time lost in transit to and from the College, which means minimal impact on class schedules and learning.

In the Junior Years

Within our Junior Years, there are also plenty of opportunities for purposeful interaction with the boys at CCGS. Through the choice of co-curricular activities, our girls can join CCGS students and take part in a variety of activities together. Excursions and incursions, the Mahjong Club, a combined choir and co-ed debating teams are all popular co-curriculars for our Junior Years students. These co-ed opportunities are based on learning outcomes and are offered on an opt-in basis.
